Lancaster Grand Theatre

Step into a world of enchantment at Lancaster Grand Theatre, a cherished cultural icon since 1782.  Operated by the Lancaster Footlights & Grand Theatre Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), the theatre stands proudly as the third oldest working theatre in the UK outside London, boasting a prestigious Grade II heritage listing and a 460-seat capacity.

Immerse yourself in a diverse array of performances, with over 250 opportunities each year to experience the thrill of live entertainment.  From electrifying live music and top-class comedy to gripping drama and spellbinding international ballet, there's something to captivate every soul.

What truly sets Lancaster Grand Theatre apart is the unwavering commitment to community engagement and accessibility.  As a registered charity fundraising endeavours are replied upon to thrive.  But this is more than just a venue for entertainment; it's a hub of inclusivity, offering time and space to local community groups and charities, fostering a sense of belonging and support within the community.

No matter your abilities, everyone is welcome to enjoy the magic of live theatre at Lancaster Grand Theatre.  Significant steps have been taken to ensure accessibility, with wheelchair-friendly spaces, ramps, accessible toilets, and an audio induction hearing loop.  Plus, a warm hand of welcome is extended to carers, with free tickets and host special relaxed performances during pantomime season for those with additional needs and their families.

Behind every curtain call is a dedicated team of volunteers and staff, working tirelessly to bring all productions to life.  Led by passionate volunteer trustees, the theatre employs a full-time team to ensure seamless operations and unforgettable experiences for guests.  During performances, enthusiastic volunteers fill front and back-of-house roles, adding a personal touch to every visit.

As the theatre charts a course into the future, the mission remains clear: to evolve while honouring the rich heritage.  In collaboration with members, volunteers, and staff, the theatre is committed to overcoming modern challenges, while enriching the community with the magic of art and culture.

Whether you're a seasoned theatre aficionado or simply seeking a memorable night out, Lancaster Grand Theatre invites you to embark on a journey of wonder and discovery.  Join in and become part of a vibrant community, where every visit promises unforgettable moments and cherished memories.
